Sierra Foothill Wineries

Rediscover the Mother Lode

With dozens of wineries to choose from, Amador County and the Sierra Foothills surrounding Plymouth, CA provide a wonderful growing environment for producing award-winning wines.

Why not Rediscover the Mother Lode?

Get away from the city and leisurely wind your way through the rolling Sierra Foothills filled with the patchwork of vineyards, stopping along the way to taste the offerings of the local vintners. At times you may feel like you have the whole Shenandoah Valley to yourself. That feeling today has been shared for over two centuries when wine making in California began - long before the gold rush.

Shenendoah Wineries Plymouth California
Wine tasting around the Plymouth area takes you back to the wine making roots of California. Originally planted in the 1700's, grapevines have dotted the landscape early in California's rich history.  The foothills produced some of the first wines in California during the Gold Rush.  Some vineyards have vines dating back to the 1800's.  Today the tradition of producing award-winning varieties of wine continues.
